  Star Wars Day is here! Sound the Gungan bawoonkas. Strike up the kloo horns. And, as you celebrate this May 4th, I thought I would share my own trilogy of film favorites in the legendary saga. I don’t claim to be a Star Wars guru or a Jedi master, but I would cautiously call myself a fan.   No, I haven’t read every comic book with a lightsaber in it. I haven’t even watched all the shows in Disney’s official canon. Why Write By Night And Muse About Matcha?

Why does a writer write at night? Good question. You should ask one. Oh wait, that’s me. Yes, I’m a writer by day. A “senior writer” actually. That means I’m getting old. It also means that I write a lot. Like, all the time. It’s a big part of my job. So why write at night? I mean, I don’t need to be a mild-mannered guy by day who turns out to be a superhero defending the populace by night. That would be cool, but I think someone already came up with that idea. I also can’t outrun trains, stop bullets, or fly. And, as far as I know, there is no man cave under my house full of wonderful toys fit for a caped crusader.   But shouldn’t I be chilling this evening instead of continuing on with what essentially is my work? I mean, there are new installments of Star Wars: Maul-Shadow Lord to watch. Or classic West Wing episodes. Why write? Well, I’ll get to those shows. I have Disney+ after all. A Hero's Final Flight

I recently witnessed a hero’s final flight. On this Memorial Day, I want to be sure to pause and remember the service of this soldier and others who have laid down their lives for our nation. May we never forget “the last full measure of devotion” given by those men and women for us. Headed Home Truth be told, I don’t actually know much about this hero. I wish I did.   I was on his plane because I was headed home at the end of a work trip in Dallas.  Admittedly, my eyes were heavy during the usual pre-flight announcements. I do usually try to at least look like I’m paying attention. I figure maybe it’s a little moral support for the flight attendants. But this time I felt extra tired. I had heard every word of this script many times before, and I was ready for a break. My weary mind was also a bit distracted as the couple seated next to me scrolled through their Instagram feeds—volume on.
